A higher authority
As the HUG's highest authority, the Board of Directors (BoD) is vested with extensive powers over the management and definition of healthcare policy, subject to the powers of the Grand Council (legislative) and the Council of State (executive) of the Republic and canton of Geneva.
In 2015, this decision-making body met ten times and handled 126 cases.
As part of its work, it adopted:
- the 2014 financial statements (including the trustee report) and the draft budget 2016
- the 2016 annual equipment plan
- the 2016-2019 four-year financial plan
- the 20/20 Vision strategic plan
- the risk matrix and internal control system
- annual tariff agreements
- the institutional organisational tree diagram.
The Board also discussed or initiated discussions on topics including:
- the HUG's strategic objectives
- the progress and future organization of the new hospital building
- the merger with the Joli-Mont and Montana clinics
- the situation in several medical departments
- the care of children in paediatrics for social reasons
- the application of the Labour Act and arrangements required by the Cantonal Office for inspection and labour relations.
