Maternity combines the gynecology and obstetrics hospitalization units. It has both prenatal and postnatal rooms, delivery rooms, operating theaters and continuous care. It also has breast (FR) and endometriosis centers and a gynecological and obstetric emergencies unit (FR).

In order to be able to carry out treatments in the best possible way,
we recommend that the public comes to the hospital from 10 am onwards.
Your hospital admission
Drop in beforehand!
As soon as you know the date of your admission to hospital, we request that you come to the Admissions Office a few days beforehand if your state of health allows this. This gives you a chance to complete the administrative formalities and save yourself the trouble on the day of your admission to hospital.
Admission
An admissions team facilitates your registration from Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 4 pm. Follow the yellow line to office A. Outside of these hours, Reception is available until 8 pm.
Check your insurance policies
If you do not live in the Canton of Geneva or if you are the beneficiary of supplementary insurance, international or foreign insurance, please contact the telephone number +41 22 372 64 48 to check that your hospital stay will be fully covered.
CHECK-LIST
To register you must submit :
- the notification sheet
- insurance card or cover guarantee from your health insurance fund or insurance company
- an identity document (passport, identity card, family record book or residence permit for foreigners living in Switzerland)
- if admitted following an accident : the health insurer’s decision, quoting the claim number
- the decision of the statutory Invalidity Insurance, if this is the reason for your admission to hospital
- a financial deposit or proof of such a deposit if you do not have a full guarantee from a recognized insurance company or if the treatment is not covered by basic health insurance benefits (LAMal)
- if your hospital stay is taking place in a private or semi-private room, the administrative consent document for the treatment, is submitted with your notification and you must sign it in situ.

Green space
There is a garden next to the cafeteria with tables, chairs and parasols.
Telephone
If you would like to use a telephone, please contact a nurse so that one can be provided to you. A telephone bill will be sent to you. If you wish, you can also make a prepayment before activating your line. In this case, if the credit balance used is less than the advance payment, the difference will not be refunded to you. If you overrun your prepayment, you will be invoiced at your home address.

Before you leave hospital, please make sure you have received the following :
- a notification of discharge
- a doctor’s sick-leave certificate (if necessary)
- a card indicating your treatment
- a prescription (if necessary)
- a physiotherapy or domiciliary care prescription (if necessary)
- a follow-up appointment with your general practitioner or at the hospital.

Contemplation space
Located near to the entrance, at level 0, this multidenominational space is open 24/7 to everyone wanting some contemplation. It is arranged as a lounge with prayer and reading material and a screen. On the first floor next to the delivery room there is also a contemplation room for bereaved parents. This is managed by care staff.
Laundry
The hospital will provide you with a gown intended for your care. Please remember to bring your own toilet bag, pyjamas or nightdress, dressing gown, slippers, which should preferably have backs - and any other items you may need.
You are about to give birth
- Bring various items with you. For you: breastfeeding pads and bras, disposable pants, comfortable clothes.
- For your baby: various clothing items (bodysuits, pyjamas, bonnet, etc.) and car seat for safe car transport.
Tom Pouce Nursery
While you are in hospital your spouse can visit you and leave your children in the Tom Pouce Nursery in Maternity (bd de la Cluse 30, floor 0). It is open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 1 pm to 5 pm, and depending on availability, welcomes children from 1 to 10 years of age for a maximum period of three hours.

Crèche
A central crèche welcomes babies when the mothers are not in the unit.
Returning home with your baby
After a complication-free delivery, an early return home within 48 hours is possible with the help and support at home of an independent midwife, who has been introduced in advance. For a birth by caesarean section, hospitalization is generally 4 days.
Discharge
You will be discharged between 10 am and 12 pm.
Mobile telephone
To avoid disrupting electronic monitoring devices, please turn your phone off in the delivery room, during continuous care and in prenatal rooms. Otherwise use is tolerated. Please use with discretion.
Videoconference
Your newborn is in the neonatal unit and you yourself are in the recovery room, in a unit or at home. A videoconference system enables you to see your newborn which makes the separation less difficult to endure.
Visiting hours
Your close friends and relatives can visit you every day from 8 am to 8 pm. For spouses visiting hours are from 8 am to 9 pm.
