Simulating an operation
The ophthalmology department is the first in Switzerland to be equipped with an operation simulator. The physician choses the operation that they would like to practise: cataract, removal of the retina, placement of a lens.
Once the programme is launched, the virtual operation can be viewed on a big screen by other doctors. There are different levels of complexity for each operation.
This simulator is useful for training and repeating complicated operations. Practising is the only way to learn how to do techniques that, in ophthalmic surgery, are extremely precise and meticulous and must become completely familiar.
