Easing the transition to adulthood
In order to improve the care provided to teenagers and young adults suffering from cancer, HUG has created a specific oncology consultation.
The incidence of cancer is rising between the age of 15 and 20. The diagnosis is often delayed due to downplaying of the symptoms and frequent complications. This demands tailored treatments and long-term follow-up.
Due to the age of these young patients, other concerns must also be taken into account in their medical and psycho-social care
- preserving fertility
- the place of treatment
- schooling support.
This new consultation enjoys the support of the Dubois-Ferrière Dinu Lipatti Foundation.
