In partnership with the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB), HUG has developed a tool for analyzing and storing genomic data in the field of tumours.
Named Oncobench®, the platform was designed in the clinical pathology department and is contributing to the development of personalized medicine. At each sequencing, it analyses 50 genes for dozens of patients and produces 500 million items of DNA data per patient. In the near future, the oncologist or pathologist will be able to predict the effectiveness of a drug and tailor the treatment to each patient.
This collaboration with the SIB is a first in Switzerland, making HUG a pioneer in the medicine of the future thanks to genomics and clinical bioinformatics.
