The Maternity hospital extension has been completed

The full opening of the new Maternity hospital is scheduled for September 2017.

After the completion of the structural work in 2015, 2016 was devoted to the interior fittings and delivery of the first equipment. The installation remains to be finalised and tests must be performed before it is put into operation.

With this extension, which was launched in 2006 and funded by investment credits voted by the Grand Council, Switzerland’s largest Maternity hospital will have 134 gynaecology and obstetrics beds and state-of-the-art infrastructure in neonatology (FR), to ensure that premature or low weight babies receive care and are closely monitored around the clock.

Other work will subsequently be carried out to bring the facilities located in the first part of the building – which opened twenty years ago already in 1997 – up to standard.
