Acquisition of a peroperative MRI

The GIBOR (Rhythmology Operating Theatre MRI Group) project plans to construct a surgical platform consisting of an operating theatre and a rhythmology room teamed with an MRI imaging room by the end of 2018.

It brings together several medical services: neurosurgery, interventional cardiology, radiology and anaesthesiology.

In the operating theatre, the MRI moves on rails on the ceiling. This specific feature makes its installation extremely complex from an architectural, technical, medical and paramedical point of view. The work began in 2017.

The advantage of this platform is patient safety. As the patient being operated on does not need to be moved, time is saved for the examination and anaesthesia and there is a reduced risk of infection.
