8th NICE EPITA WORKSHOP ISLET ISOLATION AND TRANSPLANTATION

The aims of this workshop are:

· To provide theoretical education and practical training to scientists, physicians, surgeons and technicians who are new or junior to the field of islet isolation and transplantation

· To provide baseline knowledge for the creation and development of new islet isolation and transplantation centers

· To provide continuing education and update to scientists, physicians, surgeons and technicians who are already established in the field of islet isolation and transplantation



This workshop is composed of 2 parts, a 1.5-day theoretical part followed by a 1.5-day practical part. Part 1 is made of lectures given by expert speakers coming from several European centers active in clinical pancreatic islet isolation and transplantation. Part 2 is designed as a hands-on islet isolation activity, in which all steps of the procedure will be performed in small groups, using porcine pancreases, under the supervision of qualified personnel from the host institution and from other European expert centers.
