Doing something else and distracting yourself can be helpful when emotions are difficult to manage. Here are some activity suggestions to help you change your mind if you have about an hour or more at your disposal:
- Going to the cinema/bowling, hanging out with friends
- Going for a long walk in nature or in the city
- Exercising (at a light to moderate pace) at home or outside
- Go to the lake, go to a café you like
- Cooking a meal/baking a cake
- Take a bath
- Going shopping
- Read a book/magazine
- Doing housework/cleaning
- Getting a massage
- Visiting a museum
Sometimes it is difficult to take the first step to undertake certain activities. Start gradually and persevere.
