Doctor Minoa Jung is Consultant surgeon in the Division of Digestive Surgery and specialist in bariatric surgery and upper GI surgery

She is Director of the bariatric surgery program of the Division of Digestive surgery of the University Hospitals of Geneva, and co-Director of the obesity and bariatric surgery center at the University Hospitals of Geneva. Dr. Jung has extensive experience in surgery bariatric, surgery of gastric and esophageal cancer, digestive surgery, as well as in minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

Doctor Jung obtained her medical degree at the University of Basel in 2002. She performed her internship at Kreisspital Männedorf with Professor Hollinger from 2003 to 2005, then at Limmatstpital with Professor Schöb, where she was nominated junior consultant in 2008. Doctor Jung became FMH specialist in surgery in 2010. Moreover, she became Doctor in medicine (MD) in 2010 at the University of Basel with a thesis about co- overexpression of p21 / Ki-67 in head and neck cancer. Thereafter, Doctor Jung worked as junior consultant in the Division of Digestive Surgery at the University Hospitals of Geneva until 2015, when she was appointed Senior consultant. From 2017 to 2018, she obtained a grant from the Intuitive Foundation and went on a fellowship in gastric surgical oncology at the Severance Hospital, University of Yonsei, in Seoul (South Korea) under the direction of Professor WJ Hyung. Doctor Jung became FMH specialist in digestive surgery in 2020.

Doctor Jung is the author of numerous scientific publications and book chapters, and notably obtained the first prize of the Swiss Society of Surgery for the best presentation in 2012, the first prize of the Swiss Society of Surgery for the best publication in 2014 and the first prize for the best presentation at the Korean congress about gastric cancer in 2018.

She was appointed Proctor for Intuitive in 2019 and receives international visitor surgeons. Her research focuses on bariatric surgery and on the cancers of the stomach and esophagus .
