Preoperative procedure performed in Radiology, consisting of locating by lymphoscintigraphy the first node of a lymphatic chain to mark it and later remove it during the procedure in order to analyze it histologically.
This procedure means that axillary lymph node dissection can be avoided if the sentinel node is negative.
