Check out our information and advice pages on cognitive, emotional and fatigue difficulties after brain injury.
Neuropsychologists are specialists in the assessment and treatment of disorders of higher brain functions, such as memory, attention or perception, that occur after brain damage. Aphasiologists-speech therapists (called in France: orthophonists) are specialists in the assessment and treatment of language and communication disorders.
The neuropsychological and aphasiological examination consists of evaluating and measuring these different disorders. It allows us to estimate independence in certain daily activities (managing administrative affairs, acquiring new skills, etc.), the possibility of returning to work, or even the ability to drive a vehicle.
Rehabilitation programs may include individual care, intensive computer-assisted training, or small group therapy. Outpatient follow-up may be offered to patients upon discharge from the service.
The team of neuropsychologists and speech therapists also actively participates in scientific research for the understanding of cognitive processes: language, music, reading, hemispatial neglect and visual agnosia. This program also focuses on the development of therapies for various disorders: anomia, alexia, agraphia, scotomas, hemispatial neglect, amnesia and planning disorders.
