In order to ensure that all patients with prostate cancer receive the best treatment possible using a multidisciplinary and coordinated approach to care, HUG created a specialized center in 2014. This center has obtained the certification of the German Cancer Society (DKG), which guarantees the highest level of requirements, in terms of treatment quality and patient follow-up.
This center, dedicated to prostate cancer, coordinates all hospital divisions involved in treating this disease and brings them together to help the patient. It also brings together the best expertise at HUG and creates a cutting-edge technical platform to perform investigations and treatments available to patients.
Patients can contact the Prostate Cancer Center directly or they can be referred by their physician.
When prostate cancer is diagnosed, the specialist team of treating doctors at the center will discuss each patient’s situation during a weekly meeting (Tumor Board) and they well develop a personalized therapeutic strategy. The involvement of a number of hospital divisions in the center ensures that the patient will receive comprehensive and coordinated care from multidisciplinary teams.
As a result, patients can find all the support and care needed, whether this involves making a diagnosis or performing a treatment, or long-term follow-up of their cancer.
