Language disorders can occur after a brain injury, this is called aphasia. Aphasia can affect all modalities of language, i.e., oral expression, oral comprehension, written expression and written comprehension.
These disorders can also be associated with other difficulties, such as performing calculations, gestures or remembering general knowledge about the world (memory of words, concepts). Since language is fundamental for communication, people with aphasia can be very affected in their daily lives.
