Patient Partner Platform + 3P

Plateforme 3pp

The Patients Partners + 3P platform is the essential tool for implementing collaborations. It aims to facilitate partnership implementation by offering a range of services to patient, family caregiver and professional partners.

These services, in the form of support, target partner recruitment, accompaniment and supervision of collaborations. They also provide information and follow-up on actions, while ensuring their visibility.

Main services of the +3P partner patient platform

1. Building a network of partners

The creation of a network of partners is the key element of the platform. Thanks to ongoing recruitment, the network continues to grow with patients, relatives, members of the public and professionals. They participate on an ad hoc basis or make more frequent or longer-term commitments in the fields of care, teaching, research and organization.

Different recruitment methods are possible:

  • online registration form: Become a partner
  • through acquaintances
  • by professionals informing the patients they follow

Recruitment for long-term activities, which require particular experience or skills, involves a prior meeting with the partner. For these situations, the person in charge of the PP+3P platform invites the patient or close caregiver for a one-hour interview face-to-face or by videoconference. After introducing the PP+3P platform, they listen to the patient's experience of the care pathway, his or her interest in joining, expectations, socio-professional experience and availability.

Data security: this interview leads to the sharing of sensitive data. To ensure data confidentiality and storage, the partner is asked to sign a consent form.

The person in charge of the PP+3P platform ensures that patient's interests are addressed and involves them in a collaboration as soon as a partnership request aligns with those. Anyone who comes forward to join the Patient Partners platform is welcome, provided they have the established the necessary emotional distance to reflect on their personal experiences. Activities are tailored to each person's desired level of involvment and profile.

The involvement of the patient / close caregiver / public partner is voluntary
and they may withdraw from it at any time.

To ensure the smooth running of these collaborations, it is essential to clarify various operating rules and recommendations.

For a one-off partnership

These activities involve short-term activities such as sharing experiences, expressing needs with one or more professionals or patients. For these activities, such as focus groups (2-hours maximum duration), the anonymity of the data collected is guaranteed. These activities are on a volunteer basis.

For repeated or long-term partnerships

To facilitate the implementation of the partnership, a few operating rules are shared with the partners at the first meeting. These rules are common to both patient and professional.

  • Respect of confidentiality: data shared by both must not be passed on to third parties.
  • All participants patients, relatives, professionals involved in the partnership have equal access to the same data
  • A commitment to planned activities.
  • For the professional, the duty not to share medical data with patients
  • Either party has the right to withdraw, at any time.

These recommendations are detailed in the activity agreement drawn up for long-term partnerships.

These repeated or long-term partnerships leverage the expertise, knowledge and socio-professional skills, of the patient/caregiver. These collaborations can involve all three of the HUG's fundamental missions and all levels of the hierarchy.

Patient/caregiver compensation is discussed and decided in advance with the professional and communicated to the patient before the collaboration begins.
