FMH
The FMH (the Swiss Medical Association) is the professional association for the Swiss medical profession and the umbrella organization for the Cantonal medical associations and medical specialty associations. It has more than 36,000 members, representing approximately 95% of the physicians in Switzerland.

SSO
The Swiss Society of Ophthalmology (SSO) was founded in 1907. It is a member of the FMH, the Swiss medical profession’s umbrella organization, and its objectives are to:

  • encourage scientific research and promote the practice of ophthalmology
  • defend the professional interests of its members
  • maintain collegial relationships between Swiss ophthalmologists.

AAO
The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) is a professional medical association of ophthalmologists. It is based in San Francisco, California, and its membership includes more than 90% of the ophthalmologists in the United States and 7,000 members abroad.

ESCRS
Founded in 1991, the ESCRS is the largest organization in Europe representing cataract and refractive surgeons. It is at the cutting-edge of developments in surgery of the anterior segment. This association currently has 4,000 members from more than 90 different countries around the world.

ASCRS
The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) is a non-profit, independent organization, founded in August 1974. Its mission is to advance the art and science of surgery of the anterior segment.

TEDD
TEDD (Tissue Engineering for Drug Development and Substance Testing) competence center, founded in 2011, is a Swiss collaborative innovation platform dedicated to 3D cell culture technology and organ-like tissue models for drug development, substance testing, personalized and regenerative medicine. By combining diverse skills through integrative cooperation among its academic, clinical and industrial partners, TEDD covers the entire development and value chain and forms a powerful and successful network.
