The HUG has a unique network of underground passageways on its main site, stretching over 13 km between the various buildings.

The HUG's underground network is full of activity. In addition to accommodating various operational, logistical and even administrative activities, the network also facilitates numerous hospital activities such as the transport of patients, the distribution of meals, the delivery of linen, the transfer of waste and merchandise, postal deliveries and staff movements.

Thanks to this internal logistics system powered by electric vehicles, the HUG fleet consisted of 54% electric vehicles in 2021.

The underground network allows employees to move more quickly between the various buildings on the Cluse-Roseraie and Beau-Séjour sites. Some departments have bicycles available for underground travel.
