The Cardiovascular Surgery Division, HUG provides state-of-the-art care in the field of Heart Surgery for adults and children and in the field of Vascular Surgery. It provides outpatient and surgical care to some 300 000 cases annually. For children, cardiovascular surgery aims to correct or minimize congenital malformations, as well as acquired valvular pathologies and particularly those of a rheumatic origin. For adults, it involves surgical treatment of valvular and coronary pathologies, heart failure, central and peripheral vascular pathologies, as well as varicose veins.
The Cardiovascular Center led by Professor Christoph Huber, has a mission to provide multidisciplinary treatment for cardiovascular disorders in order to improve the quality of care.
Treatment is patient-centered to provide, under the best conditions and as soon as possible, diagnostic investigations and treatments that will be needed.
