Conn’s syndrome is an adrenal nodule associated with hypersecretion of aldosterone. This hormone is produced by the adrenocortical glands and is essential for maintaining blood pressure. Therefore, one of the first signs of this rather rare disease is high blood pressure. Conn’s nodule affects women more and is always benign.
Treatment includes medication and surgery. Before proceeding to removal of the adrenal gland or nodule, taking anti-aldosterone medications helps regulate blood pressure and potassium levels.
