Recommandations following the donation

Precautions to be taken

  • Keep the slightly compressive bandage applied to the puncture site for at least 2 hours after the donation to prevent a haematoma from forming.
  • Don't turn down the snacks and drinks offered to you after your donation; they can prevent you from feeling potentially unwell.
  • Avoid strenuous sport after your donation. You should allow 48 hours before and after your donation for scuba diving, climbing and any competition.
  • Drink enough fluids: the volume donated is replaced the same day and your red blood cell count will return to normal within three weeks

In the event of complications after donation

Did you develop a haematoma or any other symptom? Has your state of health changed in the last 14 days

Contact the CTS (available 24 hours a day), who will take the necessary precautions regarding your donation.
