Sandrine Morel earned a Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology in 2002 from Joseph Fourier University in Grenoble. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the CHUV in Lausanne, she joined the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva, where she served as a senior assistant professor and continued her research in the field of the cardiovascular system. In 2015, she joined a translational research project focused on intracranial aneurysms as a research associate; the project was conducted jointly by the Department of Pathology and Immunology at UNIGE and the Neurosurgery Department at HUG.
She earned a DAS in Management of Clinical Trials, Good Clinical Practice Implementation, and Quality Processes in 2018, and was awarded the title of Privat-Docent in 2021.
In addition to her research activities, she teaches at the bachelor’s level in the Faculty of Medicine as well as in the Doctoral School.
Sandrine Morel has received several awards and research grants and has numerous publications to her credit.
At the NeuroCentre, Sandrine Morel heads the Clinical Research Unit (N-CTU). She is involved in supporting clinical and preclinical research. She coordinates studies, assists with the drafting, submission, and follow-up of ethics protocols, helps draft Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) and Data Transfer Agreements (DTAs), and supports investigators in certifying their databases (Swiss Biobanking Platform).
