On Friday, 13 March 2026, the international awareness day Big Yellow Friday will take place, dedicated to raising awareness of liver diseases in children. This day aims to inform the public about these conditions, which are often rare, and about the challenges related to their management.
Big Yellow Friday is an awareness initiative founded by the UK charity Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF), with the support of ESPGHAN at the European level.
In Switzerland, this initiative is relayed by the Swiss Pediatric Liver Center (SPLC) at Geneva University Hospitals.
On this occasion, the Jet d’Eau in Geneva will be illuminated in yellow, in support of this initiative and to help raise public awareness.
An information stand, hosted by the SPLC team together with several patient associations, will also be present at the entrance of the Children’s Hospital.
The Swiss Pediatric Liver Center is the only center in Switzerland accredited in Highly Specialized Medicine (HSM) for pediatric liver transplantation as well as hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery in children.
The SPLC is proud to support this international initiative and thanks all partners and teams involved in this awareness effort.
