What is the HUG Hackathon?
Open to all HUG staff, patients and partners (UNIGE, HES, etc.) and innovation enthusiasts, the HUG Hackathon is a participative and creative event designed to stimulate the generation of ideas. By encouraging hackathon participants to work together to solve various challenges within a set timeframe and with the aim of presenting results, the Hackathon is an ideal tool for encouraging the emergence of innovative ideas and the rapid development of functional prototypes for the solutions devised.
Challenge-bearers “pitch” their challenges to the participants in order to create multidisciplinary teams. For 36 hours, the team members work together to develop a concrete solution. The solution is evaluated based on its innovative character, its benefit for the patients and the institution, its applicability within the HUG, as well as the quality and persuasiveness of the pitch. The most convincing proposals are awarded the Grand Prize of the Hackathon, the Jury’s “Coup de cœur” Prize, the Public’s “Coup de cœur” Prize, as well as a special prize specific to the theme of the edition. This event takes place at the Innovation Center, where “everyone can make a difference”.
