Clinical Research Center

The Clinical Research Center’s mission is to promote clinical research within HUG and the Faculty of Medicine by developing translational research that matches the priority areas defined by the two institutions (HUG and the University of Geneva Faculty of Medicine).

Clinical research means patient-oriented research, in contrast to laboratory research which involves tissues and animals.

The Centre is open Monday to Saturday, from 7 am to 7:30 pm. Groups are organized according to the wishes of patients and the department’s capabilities.

  • Group 1: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the morning
  • Group 2: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the afternoon
  • Group 3: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in the morning
  • Group 4: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in the afternoon

In each of these groups, in order to offer you optimum medical care, a time of arrival schedule will be provided to you.

The trend in major European university hospitals, as well as in private laboratories, is towards the consolidation of laboratories by setting up an automation and consolidation of techniques and equipment.

This automation will reduce the amount of laboratory equipment and reallocate human resources to perform more value-added tasks, particularly for specialized analysis. The new organization of the future building for laboratories will involve reorganizing existing functions and the creation of new jobs.
