A higher authority

As the HUG's highest authority, the Board of Directors (BoD) is vested with extensive powers over the management and definition of healthcare policy, subject to the powers of the Grand Council (legislative) and the Council of State (executive) of the Republic and canton of Geneva.

Current affairs

The Executive Board (EB) handles current affairs and prepares Board meetings.

By delegation, it has certain specific powers, particularly in the field of personnel management. It also adopts collaboration agreements and issues notice of changes to organisational structure and regulations, for submission to the Board.

Operational decisions

The Executive Committee (EC) guides the HUG; it implements the decisions of the Board, and its chairman, the managing director, receives his instructions from the Chair of the Board of Directors.

In 2015, this body handled 598 cases and met 42 times, including 37 as a select group and 5 as an extended committee.
