The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit has 12 beds. Your child can be admitted there for care or continuous monitoring.
It is normal for you to be worried. These pages are intended to familiarize you with the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and how it works, and to reassure you.
Nurses and physicians have care rotations in order to provide treatments for your child 24/7. All of these providers have received or are receiving specialty training in intensive medicine. In addition, as needed, teams can call in and collaborate with various specialists (physicians, child psychiatrists, social workers and others) to offer you and your child the best possible care and support.
Your child’s health, care, monitoring, improvements and any questions concerning his/her health condition will be explained gradually and on an individual basis by the medical and nursing staff. Our entire team is available if you have any questions, concerns or fears.
