The Orthopedic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Trauma Care Division performs 6 700 procedures each year in all areas of orthopedic reconstructive surgery and trauma in adults.
There are more than 120 beds spread throughout 6 care units, which makes it one of the largest specialized institutions in Western Europe.
The Division carries out more than 25 000 consultations annually with a significant portion in Oral Surgery and Orthopedics and Sports Traumatology, as well as specialized consultations to serve patients that are amputees and have hemophilia.
The Hand Surgery Unit logs on its own more than 7 000 consultations and 800 procedures annually touching on the entire field including endoscopy and microsurgery.
A team of 17 Senior Residents provide management and direct supervision for each medical intern. Medical Interns work in the care units (25 patients) that they are medically responsible for and where they are introduced to elective reconstructive surgery and major trauma care. They could then perfect their skills in very specialized areas of surgery of the foot, knee, shoulder or hip.
